ILSA Membership
- Annual membership of ILSA covers the academic year - from beginning of September to end of August.
- Only individual membership is possible - school or institutional membership is not available.
- Only members are allowed attend ILSA Conferences and Seminars. They will be granted Leave of Absence to attend from the Department of Education and Science.
- Current members automatically receive a Renewal of Membership Application/Conference booking form in the post before their membership expires. Members also automatically receive Seminar Application Forms.

- I.L.S.A.’s main raison d’être is to provide regular, dynamic in-career professional development for its members.
- Autumn and Spring National Conferences
- Regular Regional Cluster Meetings (I.L.S.A. has 30 Regional Clusters).
- I.L.S.A. keeps in touch with its membership through the publication of Newsletters and through its website.
- I.L.S.A. publishes an annual research journal entitled ‘LEARN’ to keep members abreast of current research findings and good practice in Learning Support, Language Support and Resource Teaching.
- I.L.S.A. encourages research into Learning Support, Language Support and Resource Teaching and makes bursaries available to members to facilitate this research.
- I.L.S.A. maintains regular contact with sister Learning Support, Language Support and Resource Teacher Associations in Scotland , England , Wales , USA , and Northern Ireland .
- I.L.S.A. engages with the Teacher Unions (T.U.I., A.S.T.I. and I.N.T.O.) and raises current issues, which concern Learning Support, Language Support and Resource Teachers.
- I.L.S.A. makes representations to the Department of Education & Science on policy issues pertaining to Learning Support, Language Support and Resource Teaching.
- I.L.S.A. is now the fourth largest teacher organisation in the country with close to 1000 paid-up members.
- All major suppliers of support materials attend National Conferences.

The annual membership is €60. Please note it is ILSA’s policy that members source the membership fee (€60) from their Board of Management. However teachers are free to submit the fee from their own resources.
