LEARN Journal is also available on loan from all Education Centres.

Guidelines for submission of papers to Learn
The majority of ILSA members support students with learning difficulties and special needs, working as Learning Support or Resource Teachers in Primary or Post Primary Irish schools. Research papers should deal with topics or themes of interest to ILSA members and every effort should be made to avoid jargon. The paper should normally not exceed 3,000 words, be well researched and of a high literary quality.
The views documented and expressed in the published articles do not necessarily reflect those of ILSA but papers submitted for publication must not have been previously published. The Editor and editorial sub-committee reserve the right to make alterations in the author’s submitted text. However, copyright of published papers remains with the author or authors.
Submitted research papers should be printed in double spacing on one side of A4, with margins of at least 2.5cm to the left and right and at the top and bottom of the page. The address for submitting hard-copies of research papers is:
Editor of Learn, c/o Irish Learning Support Association, Drumcondra Education Centre, St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, Dublin 9.
Alternatively, research papers can be submitted as electronic word processing files.
The author’s name and address should appear on a covering page and a brief biographical note on the author should be included. The title of the research paper should appear in capitals and in bold font and tables, where included, must be self-explanatory to non-specialist readers.
The Harvard style of citation is the preferred style of Learn, that is the author-date system, e.g. Murphy (1995), Murphy and Lynch (1998) or Murphy et al, (2001).
The bibliography should list all references alphabetically by author’s surname and works by the same author should be arranged chronologically, by date of publication.
